Big Premier League Transfers Still to Happen Before the Window Closes
The summer transfer window always brings the biggest news during the summer months in the world. The Premier League transfer window opened one day after the extended 2020 season came to close, on Monday, July 27. The window stays open for 10 weeks and is set to close Monday, October 5. With less than a week left, there are some notable Premier League transfers yet to happen...
Jadon Sancho to Manchester United - There has been speculation about the 20 year-old Dortmund star moving to United for some time now. Manchester United have wanted the young forward for quite sometime now, reportedly being close to signing him in the winter transfer window. According to SkySports, Dortmund have rejected Man U's most recent bid of €100m, holding tight on their €120m evaluation. Marco Reus, captain of Borussia Dortmund, and much of Dortmund's hierarchy, has stated numerous times that Sancho will stay in Germany for this season. Fabrizio Romano (@fabrizioromano), one of the football world's most trusted transfer reporter and journalist, shares that Sancho agreed to personal terms with Manchester United in July and that he wants to move to Manchester, but what it comes down to is if United can splash the big bucks (or Euros) to reach Dortmund's asking price for their young star.
Declan Rice to Chelsea - The blues have had an astounding transfer window this far, signing the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner from the Bundesliga, Ben Chilwell from Leicester, Hakim Ziyech, aging Brazilian star centerback Thiago Silva, and new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Stade Rennais to name a few. Chelsea have spent nearly $272 million and their owner Roman Abramovich is still reportedly willing to open his wallet for West Ham's Declan Rice (source: transfermarkt). West Ham are said to be asking $50 million for their young star, who captained his side to a 4-0 win over Wolverhampton this past weekend. According to @ExWHUemployee on twitter, an anonymous account which gives credible news on all things West Ham, it is currently just speculation and interest on Chelsea's end, and no official bid has been submitted. Fabrizio has previously weighed in on the transfer, stating that Chelsea would turn their focus to signing Rice after the complete the signing of Mendy, which they completed on September 24. Declan Rice is best mates with Chelsea player Mason Mount, and Rice left Chelsea's academy for West Ham in 2014, where he was for eight years.
The transfer window is a crazy and exciting time during football. Sometimes clubs do risky business and end up with stars who save their season, but sometimes they splash big cash on players who can't make an impact in their side- making it a transfer window to forget. This year's transfer window ends October 5, and so much can happen before then.
