Premier League looks towards "Big Picture" with new proposals

The "big six" of the Premier League are backing a proposal led by the EFL to reshape the English game. Decisions would fade away from the current "one club, one vote" method, placing them in the hands of the 9 clubs who have been in the league the longest: Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Southampton, and West Ham.

This proposal also looks to lighten up fixtures by eliminating the EFL League Cup, as well as the Community Shield. It also seeks to reduce the Premier League to 18 teams. In this new proposal, the Championship's top 2 finishers would be automatically promoted as normal, with the third, fourth, and fifth placed finishers playing in a playoff tournament. The winner of this would play the 16th-placed team in the Premier League in the final, in a system similar to the German Bundesliga.

Lastly, "Project Big Picture" looks to help the smaller clubs in the EFL by taking 25% of the Premier League's revenue along with gifting £250 million to keep teams struggling with finances during the pandemic running.
