XFL Planning Return in 2022
XFL Returning in 2022
In the age of COVID-19, sports had been cancelled and/or postponed for several months. The major sports such as NBA, MLB and NFL and others could afford to just postpone their seasons, while the XFL was forced to completely disband due to economic and financial hinderance from the pandemic.
Famed actor, and former wrestler Dwane "The Rock" Johnson, along with business partner Danny Garcia and RedBird Capital bought out the XFL organization from Vince McMahon for $15 million earlier this year.
However, football fans will have to wait until 2022 to see the revolutionary league to return. The XFL gained huge popularity across the nation, and even saw a few of its players signed to the NFL, including QB P.J. Walker who is on the 53 man roster for the Carolina Panthers.
Johnson made it official on Thursday morning in a tweet, saying "XFL returns SPRING 2022...it's an uphill battle, but we're hungry, humble and no one will outwork us."
League officials also confirmed with an official statement.
