Bryson DeChambeau is Worrying Augusta National Ahead of Masters

2020 saw a new look for golfer Bryson DeChambeau. He bulked up, went on an outrageous, protein filled diet which has lead to him becoming one of the top players in the game this golf season. The biggest change in DeChambeau's game from years past is his driving distance.

PGA Tour's Bryson DeChambeau is really jacked now
DeChambeau's transformation displayed in this side-by-side is from just one year of change.

And with the Master's coming up this weekend, DeChambeau is putting a new driver in the bag; one that nearly illegal. He will have a 48 inch driver in his bag which is the maximum length a driver is allowed to be on the PGA Tour.

The longer the driver, the more club head speed you have which results faster speed and longer drives. And DeChambeau, who leads the PGA Tour in average driving distance at 344 yards, is receiving criticism not only from fellow Tour players but from Augusta National officials.

Officials of the famed golf course believe that DeChambeau is essentially "mocking" the golf course as his practice rounds this week have made them question whether or not the course needs more of an extension. DeChambeau has hit drives in practice rounds that leave him with short pitches on #11 and #13. Those holes both measure over 500 yards. And DeChambeau can drive and he can drive far. It's no longer suprising to be DeChambeau crack 400 yards off the tee.

Augusta National has extended its yardage since Tiger Woods won the green jacket in 2001 and 2002. The once 6,900 yard course is now 7,500 and I'm sure they do not want to ruin the prestige and integrity of the course. No matter how far you move the tee boxes back, modern day players are finding distance. Augusta National may need more extension as Bryson DeChambeau has the distance to dominate the golf course this weekend.
