Connor McGregor Coming Out of Retirement in January

Connor McGregor, 32,  announced he was coming out of retirement in January of 2021 to fight in UFC 257 against Dustin Poirier. The match is set to take place on January 23, as announced by UFC. No set location has been set for the fight.

This will be the third time McGregor has come out of retirement to fight.

McGregor and Poirier previously fought in September 2014, in which McGregor scored a TKO in just 1:46. This was McGregor's fourth fight in the UFC and is looked back at as a key moment in his march to becoming UFC champion.

Dana White, president of UFC, announced this fight would not be for any title.

“I am also really excited about aiding Dustin’s charity ‘The Good Fight Foundation’, which through the donation, will build a gym/premise for disadvantaged youth in his childhood hometown. I truly love this, and pledge to match the donation on a premise in my own childhood hometown! Both spots with an ode to the upcoming bout.” said McGregor.
