Kendall Hinton Got His Quarterback Experience... But Not For Good Reasons

Denver Broncos put 4th string quarterback Kendall Hinton out on the field on last Sunday as Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles were all put on the reserved list after being at high-risk for COVID-19 since they had come in contact with Jeff Driskel who tested positive for COVID.

How did this happen you may ask?

The four men sat down for Sunday film reviewing session on their day off. Not socially distanced and not wearing masks, and now they're paying the price. The Broncos Lock, put out a very length tweet apologizing for the players acts and giving an explanation.

"In a controlled and socially distanced area, we let our masks slip for a limited amount of time. An honest mistake, and one I will own." Lock wrote, adding, "I sincerely apologize and I fully understand why these safety precautions are so important. Doing the right thing for the majority of the time is not good enough."

Coach Fangio also had a couple of words to say in regards to the players actions that Tuesday. "We count on them to be the leaders of the team and the leaders of the offense and those guys made a mistake that is just disappointing," Fangio said. "Obviously I haven't done a good enough job of selling the protocols to them when they are on their own so part of that could fall on me. I thought I was."

While Hinton was able to play, the game was full of mistakes, and the Broncos became the first team with more interceptions than conversions in a game since the Chargers on Sept. 20, 1998.
