Padres Head Into Offseason Feeling Good About Future

The Padres come away from the season feeling pretty good about what their future holds as a franchise. They have the best left side of the infield in the league with Machado and Tatis. They have Jake Cronenworth who answered their question at second base and a very solid outfield. Even though their top two arms are battling injuries, Clevinger and Lamet will come back and make a solid top two in their rotation. They need Paddack to find his rookie self again and then have their young arms step up to solidify the end of that rotation. I can see the front office making a move and sign a big arm for the rotation or even the bullpen. Both wouldn't hurt. If they can add one more solid arm to that rotation and stack their bullpen up a little more and we can see this staff carry them to a ring.

I do not see the Padres making many moves on offense. They seem to have found their everyday lineup but they might want to add some more options coming off the bench. Jurickson Profar played left field and was a key player coming off the bench and he is a free agent right now. I think he will re-sign as he seemed to click on this roster, but if they lose him they will need to find another guy that can fill his role. If they are able to add some depth this off-season they will feel comfortable with having a lineup that will produce night in and night out. They led a lot of categories in offensive stats as a team last year and they will only get more dangerous as they grow older and more experienced. I think this will be a team that makes a push in late October every year for years to come. They have the build to overtake the Dodgers and become the dominant team out West.
