Red Bandanna Night means Jurkovec's journey has come full circle
Saturday night's Red Bandanna Game means everything to Boston College, as they honor Welles Crowther, who gave his life on 9/11 saving 12 people inside the crumbling South Tower of the World Trade Center.
For Phil Jurkovec, it's a shot at revenge, against the program he grew up dreaming of playing for.
Jurkovec, a multi-sport star at Pine-Richland High School, was one of Pennsylvania's highest recruited quarterbacks coming out of high school, receiving full ride offers from top programs including Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame.
Phil made his decision in December 2017, when he officially signed for Notre Dame, getting the chance to live out his dream.
Having redshirted his first season, Phil looked to unseat Ian Book going into his second year. Instead, Book remained the starter, while Phil only threw 12 passes across six games, before transferring to BC in January 2020.
Since arriving, Phil has shown the ACC why he was a top recruit, as he currently leads the conference in passing yards, over future no. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence.
