Steelers Get Screwed by COVID...again
I get that I may sound whiny. Especially since the Steelers are 10-0, the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL.
But that doesn't change the fact that the Steelers are once again paying the price for another team's COVID failures.
Two days ago, I was supposed to be waking up from my post-Thanksgiving dinner nap to fix my first plate of leftovers and prepare to watch my Steelers host the Ravens in a primetime AFC North showdown. However, that wasn't possible because just a day earlier, the NFL postponed our game from Thanksgiving to Sunday and now to TUESDAY; due to a sudden spike in COVID cases among the ranks of the Ravens.
Turns out the spike was the fault of a strength and conditioning coach who failed to report symptoms and wear the team-required tracking band. As a result, JK Dobbins, Mark Ingram and Lamar Jackson have all tested positive for COVID.
Now unfortunately, the Steelers are in the same position they were in during Week 3 against the Titans. Having to accommodate yet ANOTHER team, even though Pittsburgh wasn't at fault.
Steelers players are predictably unhappy with the NFL's decision and honestly so am I.
I understand having to postpone the game from a safety standpoint, but every time, Pittsburgh has gotten the short end of the stick. After having to take a Week 3 bye following the Tennessee debacle, the 10-day break Pittsburgh would've received between their Thanksgiving game and the following matchup versus the Washington Football Team would've served as a mini-bye week for player to rest and recuperate. However, now with only 4 days in between the newly postponed Ravens game and their meeting with Washington, that respite is out of the question.
