The USWNT Set to Play Netherlands in a World Cup Rematch

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team is set to play the Netherlands on November 27 Rat Verlegh Stadium in Breda, Netherlands and will be broadcast on ESPN. This will be the team’s first match back due to coronavirus since winning the SheBelieves Cup in March.

This game also holds more significance, as it will be the first times these two teams have faced each other since the World Cup last year. Head coach Vlatko Andonovski said in a statement, “"We have a lot of work to do before the Olympics and facing a really talented Dutch team will give us a good look at where we are at the end of this very unusual year."

Alex Morgan is set to return in this game for the team, following her 15 month break for the birth of her daughter. Morgan has also been on loan from the Orlando Pride to Tottenham, recently getting her debut for the team and playing 21 minutes off the bench. Along with Morgan, fans should expect to see a good mix of some new faces and veterans. Some of the favorite veterans include Crystal Dunn, Kelley O'hara, Julie Ertz, Tobin Heath, and Rose LaVelle. Some noticeable veterans missing from the list, Megan Rapinoe, Ali Kreiger, and Carli Llyod, are currently set to attend camps in January and miss out on this competition. This was mainly done to bring some newer players into the mix, including Sophia Smith from Stanford and the 2020 NWSL’s 2020 first overall pick.

Lindsey Horan will also be missing from the squad due to a positive coronavirus test, but is said to be doing well and recovering.

This game should give fans a look into how the team is doing and how we can expect them to perform in the Olympics next summer, which are set to start July 23, 2021 in Tokyo.
