Tom Brady is flourishing, Bill Belichick is floundering
With Tom Brady deciding to head to Tampa Bay, the dynasty he had with coach Bill Belichick in New England was broken up. This brought the question on who was it in New England that made them so dominant, Tom Brady or Bill Belichick? With the Buccaneers sitting one game behind first place at 7-2, and the Patriots struggling at 4-5, that answer might be an easy one.
Some thought that Cam Newton could walk into Foxborough and become elite again under center for Bill Belichick. As we sit here in week 11 that is not the case. Some thought Tom Brady would not be successful leaving his long time coach, but that is not the case here either. We have seen The Patriots and Belichick receive their worst home loss to the 49ers this year, as Tom Brady is currently 4th in the league in passing. Cam Newton, who has one touchdown and six interceptions in the last three weeks, might be why Bill is looking so bad, but Bill still has no answers as we are halfway in the season.
The answer is that Tom Brady is why the dynasty was so elite. He sits with 2,739 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. The Buccaneers have had a few games where they looked bad, but for the most part they have used all their tools on offense to combat a dominant defense and looked unbeatable at times. That is because who is the quarterback. Tom Brady is a veteran who knows how to win and he has shown this year that he is why the Patriots have been dominate in the two past decades. Tom and Bill have recorded 6 Super Bowl wins together and it's beginning to look like those are because of the quarterback and not the coach.
