Will Anyone Get Voted Into the MLB Hall of Fame in 2021?

Major League Baseball's 2021 hall of fame ballot was released earlier this week and features many returners as well as first timers. Curt Schilling, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa are all on the ballot for the ninth straight year. The ballot features 11 first timers including Shane Victorino, Nick Swisher, AJ Burnett, Torii Hunter and Tim Hudson.

Now all of these players have had great careers and many have links to steroid use. But I don't believe anyone is getting voted in this year.

Of the returners, Curt Schilling received the highest percentage of vote last year at 70%. And while Schilling had a great career on the mound and won three World Series, there is much controversy surrounding Schilling. Other than Schilling I do not believe anyone has a legit shot.

We all know about the legacy of Bonds, Clemens, and Sosa. And of first timers, the player with the highest career batting average is Aramis Ramirez at .283. Ramirez had some good years with the Cubs but never won a World Series and played on some really bad teams.

Andy Pettitte is on the ballot for the third time. He has arguably had a hall of fame career with the Yankees and Astros and is one of the greatest postseason pitchers in MLB history. But the southpaw only got 11.3% of the vote last year and is also linked to PED use.

First timer Michael Cuddyer won a batting title in 2014 but other than that year he was just an above average player.

Shane Victorino won a World Series with the Phillies and the Red Sox but was never a top focus as he played on teams with MVP Jimmy Rollins and David Ortiz.

Tim Hudson and Barry Zito are first timers and are most known for their dominant pairing in Oakland. But once they left Oakland, Hudson pitched for teams that didn't go far. And while Zito won three World Series with the Giants he pitched in a rotation with Tim Lincecum, Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain.

If you don't understand the trend, here it is. None of these players ever dominated the MLB. Sure most were all-stars but none were ever close to winning MVPs. Like 2013, we may see no player get selected to Cooperstown on this years ballot.
